GTE, SAM re-match in Final again

2009.10.26 11:18

Lok Ming Sin, kind of in a replacement for the injured Dennis Chang, scored 13 points in his first game for SAMURAI and Eric Leung hit four treys for 12 points in a 46:25 victory over M.I.B., who has nine points from Jefferson Tong and seven from Dickson Chau.

Shorthanded M.I.B. filled its bench with teenagers who were former students from Gilbert Fu, their lack of size and experience gave SAMURAI a great advantage especially on a hot shooting day for Eric and SLM.

James Kwan started for SAMRUAI, had four fouls in limited minute and was scoreless. Jackie Lai had no turnovers and eight points but needed 12 attempts to do so.

Jefferson Tong made only four of his 19 attempts from the field but led all M.I.B. with 9 points. Dickson and Adrian Chou had 10 and 11 rebounds but each added six turnovers.

The victory by SAMURAI continued the overall O4 trend as last year when the results of the first three days are the same.

SOUTHORN Tigers comeback in the 4th period for a victory in the “idle game” against G.T. Explorers.

The real “Original Southorn” started as Patrick Tse played his debut as Tigers year after coming back from Taiwan. Patrick scored four points, five rebounds and dished twice.

Wilson Chow barely missed a double-double with nine points and boards, he added also two steals and blocked shots. Benny Wong had eight points, three rebounds and steals each.

Up by five at half time, G.T. Explorers allowed 15 points from Tigers and let them tie the game at the end of the third period. Tigers’ defense down the stretch kept Explorers from scoring a second field goal and edged for a win.

Vincent Wong had three treys for nine points from the bench, Aston Lie added six points, Eddie Sze and Thomas Lau each had four. The teams’ starting five combined for all the 19 rebounds for the team, and was out-rebounded by a 20 rebound margin. All Tigers had at least one board.

M.I.B. and Tigers will meet in the 3rd-Place game.
