H.F.C. Outlasted Dream Team

H.F.C. nearly blew a 12-point lead but outlasted a final 9-0 rally from Dream Team and improved to a commanding 4-1 in FORCE Division after the 43-40 victory.

Led by only one point entering the final period, H.F.C. held the opponent in scoring drought, scored 11 straight points for a twelve point advantage, and the game looked secured. But four different players from Dream Team combined for nine straight points to cut the deficit to only three again, just time couldn’t wait.

Chun Hong Tsoi hit two three-pointers in the first period, Man Chun Chow added three points and Tse Chung Ngai swished a jumper when Dream Team lead three points at the end of the first period. H.F.C. had seven of the team’s 27 turnovers just in the period and shot only 33% from the field.

H.F.C. re-grouped, coming back calmly and after Tabo Chak and Marco Tse tied the game twice, Patrick Ip scored the last basket in the half, put H.F.C. to a one-point lead.

Tho the lead did not change, the game is never too far from reach in the third period.

After Tabo Chak and Shawn Man each scored four points for the team, H.F.C. lead 32-25, the biggest margin in the period. Man Chun Chow and Ka King Kwan finished the period by a 6-0 run and cut the lead to only one again.

Chun Hong Tsoi, Man Chun Chow, Seung Lung Chin each scored eight points. Tsz Chun Ngai and Ka King Kwan each added six. Four starters from Dream Team combined for 14 steals, led by Man Chun Chow’s seven, followed by Tse Chun Ngai’s 5.

Tabo Chak filled the box score, hitting 14 points, 9 boards, six assists and four steals, but he also turned the ball over 9 times. Nikko Kwok grabbed six rebounds and added two steals, but was held to one point after scoring twenty in the previous game.

Shawn Man missed only once, went on to score 10 points off the bench. Patrick Ip added 12 and six boards.

Marco Tse sprained his ankle late in the game and was held off court by teammates.

The teams combined for 26 steals and 48 turnovers.
