M.I.B. set the tone early in the game: it is not going to be an easy game. Eight fouls were called on the men in black in just the first period and the SAMURAI scored the final four points of that period at the line by the Lai“s brothers Jackie and Patrick. They lead 10-3 in the first period but the lead was reduced to only 4 points as they were held to only three second period points. Jackie Lai is the only player from SAMURAI to score in the third period, when the M.I.B. come back and lead by two entering the final period. Neither team could get away from the opponent. Jackie Lai scored two points for his team and put his team to a 26-24 lead with less than three minutes left. The M.I.B. could not score the next possession and Jackie Lai was sent to the line. The SAMURAI guard made one of two to extend the lead to three points. He scored a team-high nine points, added one rebound, one steal and one block shot before he was fouled out in the final moment. Leo Chow hit a three pointer in the ensuing possession to tie the game with less than a minute. Ben Cheng hit one of two free throws for his team to lead 28-27 and both team went scoreless in the final seconds. The forward scored three points off the bench, he also added three rebounds despite there were five turnovers committed. Adrian Chou scored nine points, added seven boards, one assist and two steals, but he also committed a game high six turnovers. Dennis Chang, who averaged 13.5 points against the M.I.B. in the previous two match-ups, was held to only 4 points. He missed all four free throws. The team missed 9 of the 17 free throws. Eric Leung, who averaged 9 points entering the game, was scoreless for only the second time since the league begin. Teammate William Wong returned after two game“s absence. M.I.B. guard Bryan Lo played his first game this season. He missed his only two field goal attempts, and had two turnovers and personal foul apiece. Teammate Jefferson Tong did not start for the first time in his career.
