G.T. Explorers won for the first time in four meetings against M.I.B. despite a scoreless final period and took a second spot in FLIGHT division entering the playoffs.

M.I.B. forward Jefferson Tong tied his own record by scoring 15 points on 6-13 shooting. He had five rebounds and two steals in addition to many hustle plays, which were not recorded on the score-sheet. Teammate Adrian Chou had eleven rebounds, six on the offensive end but he shot only 2-10 at the line and 1-9 from the floor. The centre had four points but committed a game-high six turnovers.

Vincent Wong made a three-point shot to finish 9-5 for the Explorers in the first period, when M.I.B. had only Jefferson Tong to score all the five points.

M.I.B. could not get closer Explorers’ guard Ivan Choi scored six points in the second period for a 6-point lead at the break.

Jefferson Tong again was the only scorer for the M.I.B. in the third period, with four points. Explorers’ captain Eddie Sze hit one trey followed by another shot with his feet on the line to scored five points as they lead 24-15 into the final period.

M.I.B. made a final 6-0 run in the final period to cut the lead to three but failed to have final possession to tie the game.

G.T. Explorers was scoreless in the final period, when they had only four field goal attempts, committed eight turnovers and allowed five offensive boards.

Both teams began the game at the free throw line, all points scored at 2-2 were foul shots without misses.

M.I.B. lead all-time 3-0 against G.T. Explorers by eight points on average before the game.

It was an All-Chinese G.T. Explorers as John Cahill was on the roster list but did not attend the game. Michael Killeen, Brian Davis, Francisco Ferreira and Nathan Bryant were all inactive.
