For the third time in league history, two teams topped the 40-point mark and the 92 combined points easily ranked third of all-time. Behind Wilson Chow’s double-double and Benny Wong’s 13, the Tigers overcome Harris Wong’s personal best 20 points, beat Photons 48-44 and became the 2nd Runner Up of the season.

Photons started quickly as Simon Ho and Hop Lam scored the team’s first six points, but William Leung hit two three-point shots to take the lead back to Tigers at 8-6. Ivan Shiu finished the first period for Photons by two points as the game was tied at eight.

Ray Chan passed to Benny Wong for a fast-break layup and Wilson drove to the basket for a four-point lead before Cherry Tsui responded by a three. After Terence Chan and Gary Lai scored four points and gave Tigers a five-point lead, Cherry Tsui made another long shot to cut the lead to two. Terence hit another jumper, followed by Benny Wong’s three, the Tigers took a seven-point lead at 21-14 as Photons called for a time-out.

Harris hit two foul shots and Cherry hit a long two to put the game back to 18-21 before Terence finished the first half with three free throws as Tigers maintained a six-point cushion at the break.

Photons did a great comeback in the third period, when Harris scored 13 of the teams 17 points. After Terence put back a missed three by Cindy Lee for an eight-point lead, the biggest in the game, Harris hit two straight threes for 26-24. After a fast break by Ken Leung, Harris finished a three-point play.

Benny Wong hit his second three, followed by Wilson’s three off the glass as Tigers took back a 7-point lead. However, mixed with two baskets by Hop Lam, Harris capped a 8-0 run by two free throws as Photons took a one-point lead entering the final period.

Harris start the final period with a trey for a 4-point lead, the biggest lead by Photons since a 4-0 start of the game. Wilson missed two foul shots and Benny missed an open layup, but both teams could not score until Benny Wong hit an open jumper. After Chow Chi Wing tied the game by a free throw, Harris, after making five straight, missed both at the line but Ivan Shiu’s layup put Photons back to a 40-38 lead.

Wilson scored two points at the line to tie the game at 40 with 2-minutes left. Ray Chan made an acrobatic layup for a 42-40 lead. Ivan tied the game again but missed an and-1 before Wilson made another pair of foul shots. Harris Wong drove to the basket and tied the game with 30 seconds left, but Wilson quickly answered by a jumper in the paint.

Cherry missed a potential game winning trey as Tigers got the rebound and was fouled. Wilson made the first but missed the second shot at the line. He grabbed the rebound of the second miss before Cherry fouls hard on him to stop the clock with six seconds left. He split the final two shots at the line as time expired.

Tigers guard Ken Leung was hit and have to leave the court as his lips bleed. He returned before half-time. Centre Dennis Chang did not attend the game, William Leung started at guard, Benny Wong and Chow Chi Wing moved to forward and Centre.

Harris Wong became the only player to reach the mark other than H.F.C. scorer Tabo Chak, who did it five times in two seasons.

Cherry leads the league by 1.6 3PPG. She made 13 in nine games but reached only the second round in the Three-Point Shootout later in the evening. The 11 combined treys tied the league record in a single game. Tigers and Explorers made also 11 in the 5th Place Game in Season II.
