2009.03.16 20:52

Jerry and the new team jersey could not get past Raymond and GRIZZ.

Four ties and two lead changes in the first half showed us a close game by two teams with size, GRIZZ showed they could be the better team, went on to win its third straight game in a 40-37 victory against Trojans and would still able to challenge the top seed in FORCE division.

Jerry Lee made all four shots at the line and scored 6 of his game-high 13 points in the first period. GRIZZ centre Raymond Pak scored 5 of team-leading ten points but Trojans still lead 12-8 when the game was just 10-minute old.

Raymond finished a three-point play and added two more foul shots in the second period, Kenneth Leung and Leo Chow each added a three-pointer as GRIZZ turned a four-point deficit to a 19-15 lead at the break.

Thomas Lun’s deep basket and Jerry’s two tied the game at 20 before GRIZZ needed a timeout. Roger Mahmud scored four points in the next 8-2 run that gave GRIZZ a 6-point lead entering the final period. The new face Mr. Mahmud also added two steals and a blocked shot along with three rebounds in the period which helped to build the cushion.

Sunny Wong put back an offensive boards for two points before Leo was fouled and hit the and-one. Sunny put back aother one and Trojans pulled within 31-35.

Tony Chow scored on a fastbreak to re-gain a 6-point lead before Jerry hit a three for 34-37. Jerry missed a three-point shot, followed by another by Michael Lau. Trojans couldn’t score again and GRIZZ went on for three more points, topping the 40-point mark first time in seven games. The last 40-plus game came from a 48-18 blow-out win against G.T. Explorers.

Trojans changed to a new jersey colour from New-York-Knicks-style blue and orange to the Boston-Celtics-theme green.

Mike Mak attended the game in street clothes.

One foul was called after team foul was reached but no foul shots were awarded immediate before the game resume. The two foul shots were made up in the next foul called thus GRIZZ shot four straight free throws.
