The re-match is not a blow-out loss but the SOUTHORN Tigers lost twice to the same team and missed the chance to defend the championship.

But teammate Jerry Lee lead his team with 12 points and 3 assists, and helped the Trojans to a 33:24 victory over the Tigers, who lost 28:43 in the previous match-up.

Jerry Lee scored the only four points of the team in the first period, when Tigers’ front court Terence Chan and Wilson Chow scored for the team under the basket for six points.

Down by the two in the first period, Trojans take the lead back by scoring nine-points, shooting 3-6 from the field and 2-4 at the line. Tigers’ centre Wilson Chow was the only bright spot in the second period. He added all 6 points for the team in the period including 4 at the line. Trojans lead by one enterting the break.

The Tigers went cold in the third period, made only two field goals on nine attempts. Tigers’ forward Terence Chan has his 4th fouls in the middle and spend most of the time on the bench the rest of the period.

Trojans’ guards Vincent Siu and Jerry Lee combined for four baskets and one free thow in the period and extended the lead to 5 points entering the final period. Both teams went scoreless for a while to start the final period.

Tigers’ guard-forward Ray Chan made two baskets, including one volley-ball-like put back to cut the lead to one. Michael Lau scored his first two points in the game at the line and re-gained a three-point lead for this team.

Chi Wing Chow made a basket under the rim reduce the lead again to one. Vincent Siu scored the next four points and followed by two points by Michael Lau and a free throw by William Yim concluded a late 7-0 run that put the game away.

Terence Chan scored only three points before he was fouled out in the final period. The Tigers’ leader in rebounds matched his career-low with only three boards. Benny Wong, Tigers’ scoring leader in the previous season, played limited minutes, missed all four attempts from the field and was scoreless. Wilson Chow lead his team by 9 points and seven rebounds, he shot 7-11 at the line.

The Tigers were 0-5 when Wilson Chow scored 9 or more points. Entering the game with more than 17 attempts from the three-point range, the Tigers missed all the four attempts in the game.

Trojans’ Vincent Siu missed one point to have a double-double. The guard-forward had nine points and eleven boards. Former Tigers’ centre Will Kam was inactive for the Trojans. He missed his second straight games due to injury.
