Michael Killeen missed the whole Season II due to injury and certainly some time is needed for him to shake off rust. He shot missed a three and then a two, then he got fouled and shot two air balls at the line.

The Explorers’ star still able to make one three-point shot and with two basket from Ivan Choi and John Cahill and another trey by Barton Lai, they took a one point advantage entering the second period. GRIZZ forward Johnny Lim came off the bench and scored all his five points in the first period by on trey and making both free throws.

Gurad-forward Ronald Kwan is the only GRIZZ to score in the 2nd period as the team when the team was outscored 13-2. They made only one of the fifteen attempts when the Explorers was 6-10 from the field. Michael Killeen scored the last six points for the team as the G.T. Explorers lead 23-11 into the half-time break.

Leo Chow, who scored 50 total points in eight Season II games, had only two field goal attempts in the first half and was held scoreless for the season opener. Teammate Ar So had 4 of this six points in the 3rd period, the only period GRIZZ scored more than the Explorers but they couldn’t cut the lead enough by scoring just two more point than the opponent.

Explorers centre John Cahill, one of the many new faces for the team, scored 8 points, added seven boards and one steal. Forward Ivan Choi had seven points, two assists, two steals and two blocks despite committed a team high five turnovers.

This is only the second win for G.T. Explorers in the team history. Michael Killeen scored nine points each in both wins for the team.

Even with a size disadvantage, GRIZZ grabbed 17 offensive boards. They shoot well at the line, making 7 of 8 but was just less than 16% from the field.

GRIZZ guard Karmen Siu is the second female player to play in the league. She scored two points on 1-8 shooting and added one rebound and assist apiece.
