M.I.B. have increased size, but SOUTHORN Tigers, with pretty much the same team as in previous season, is too much for the new team which lack chemistry.

Tigers’ shooting guard Benny Wong scored all his 12 points in the first period by hitting 4-7 from beyond the arc. Teammate forwards Dennis Chan and Terence Chan added one free throw and a field goal respectively as the team took a 9-point lead into the second period.

M.I.B. shot 4-10 in the second period which is better than the 3-13 in the first. Horace Mak had two points for his team, Tim Cheung added 4 points and Marco Chou had three. But M.I.B. could not get closer as all but one Tigers’ reserve scored, including three points by Cindy Lee, and the lead was extended to eleven before the half-time break.

Scored only two points in the first on 1-7 shooting and missed all from deep, Tigers’ guard William Leung scored 5 of his seven points in the third period, when the Tigers’ reserves played a majority of time. Wilson Chow made all his two attempts. to futher extend the lead as they outscored the M.I.B. 9-3. Adrian Chou is the only M.I.B. to score in the period and also the only M.I.B. to score in the entire second half. He had 12 points, tied his personal high, and added 10 boards for the night to earn the first double-double of his career.

Playing through foul trouble much in the first three periods, former SAMURAI centre Dennis Chang missed two easy layups in the final period but managed to scored 5 of his nine points and dished once.

Chi Wing Chow had no attempts but grabbed eight boards, five from the offensive end. Teammate Wilson Chow had eight points. Tigers won all games when he scored less than nine points.

SOUTHORN Tigers(61) had 18 more field goal attempts than M.I.B. (43). But both team made only three free throws for shooting more than ten times.

Replaced by Dennis Chan in the starting lineup, Tigers’ guard Ken Leung did not play due to a sprained left ankle and left Wilson Chow and Benny Wong the only two players to play for all games for the team.
