Michael Killeen is not going to let his team down. The G.T. Explorers’ guard-forward made a tough jumper before the time expired and beat SOUTHORN Tigers 28-27 in may be one of the most exciting games in the young league history.

After baskets by John Cahill and Angus Chan, Michael Killeen’s three-point shot concluded a 9-2 run before Wilson Chow scored the team’s last point for his team. The centre was the only Tiger to score in the period. The team shot one on eleven from the field.

Down by 6, the Tigers continued to struggle in the second period. Dennis Chang scored all the teams’ two points in the period as his team missed another 18 shots. Michael Killeen finished a three-point play and scored all the five points for the team, and extended the lead to 14-5 entering the half-time break, despite being out-rebounded 15-9 in just the second period.

Making 6 of the 15 attempts, Dennis Chan, Ray Chan and Terence Chan each made two baskets in the third period and held the Explorers to 3-16 from the field as they cut the lead to 5 again. Ken Leung has all his three assists in the period.

Vincent Wong made a long two as the first points of the final period to extend the lead to seven, but he turned the ball over as Dennis Chang scored two fast break points to cut the lead to five again. Down by 5, Terence Chan continued his hot shooting in the final period. He first grabbed his own miss and hit a jumper off the glass to reduce the lead to 21-24. Ray Chan was called for an offensive foul and this fifth one sent him to the bench. After Benny Wong missed another three, Terence Chan grabs another offensive rebound and cut the lead to one.

John Cahill made a first free throw and then missed the second. Wilson Chow grabbed the rebound, passed it to Terence Chan, who drove to the basket all the way and tied the game at 25.

Ivan Choi missed two free throws and the teams were scoreless until Michael Killeen was fouled. he went to the line as team foul was reached, he missed both but Benny Wong’s violation gave him a third try which he made for the one-point lead.

After a time-out called, Terence Chan grabs the in-bound pass, drove his way to the basket and swished a jumper in the crowd to give his team a one point lead with 5 seconds left. It was the first lead for Tigers in thirty-nine minutes and 55 seconds left.

There was no time-out left and the ball was inbound, Chi Wing Chow grabs the loose ball but the referees stopped the game for uncertain reason except telling the Explorers there was no time-out left but they re-gain possession.

Michael Killeen got the pass, drove past Dennis Chang and Benny Wong before he shot the ball and made the basket as the G.T. Explorers took a third and second straight victory in team history. Michael Killeen lead all players by his career best 14 points and added six boards. John Cahill added seven boards, 5 points and two assists.

Wilson Chow was the only starting Tigers to score. He had three points, all in first period, and seven rebounds. Tigers guard combo Benny Wong and Ken Leung combined to miss 16 shots, 8 from beyond the arc. Terence Chan scored in double digits for the 5th time in career and added nine rebounds and also one assist. Ray Chan had 9 rebounds, four points and one steal.
