Tigers edged Photons and became 2nd Runner-Up in 2007

The second last game day before the playoffs will have only two match-ups at Sheung Wan Sports Centre on May 4, which feature the re-matches of the 3rd-Fight and Final in 2007.

Game 1 – H.F.C. vs GRIZZ

H.F.C. routed GRIZZ in the previous Final, had a perfect 8-0 season and became the champion of 2007. After the winning streak snapped right in the first game this season, H.F.C. won the following four games in a row and will try to continue another streak hosting the GRIZZ.

Both teams had won four times in five games this season.

Ka Wai Fu is still the star for GRIZZ, which has added size in Raymond Pak this season and they will try to make up for the loss, fighting for the top seed in FORCE division before they may meet again in Playoffs.

Tabo Chak averaged 18.7 points, three more than 2007 and above his all-time average, but his most outstanding performance came from sharing the ball, with a league leading 4.3 assists per game.

Game 2 – SOUTHORN Tigers vs Photons

While the Photons is locked at number one, Tigers was locked to number 5 entering playoffs, after losing to T-REX in overtime and losing tie-breakers to them and also the other two teams potentially with tying records, which are D.S.F. and Trojans. SOUTHORN Tigers and Photons had an exciting 3rd place when the Reds edged the Oranges 48-44 in 2007.

Photons guard Harris Wong had 20 points in the previous match up and continue his strong play this season, averaged 3 dimes a game and 1.8 steals. Ivan Shiu, already the leading rebounder last season for Photons, leads the team by 8.8 boards and ranked second in the league. He also take over Harris Wong and become the team’s leading scorer by hitting nearly 10 points a game.

While there is no obvious star in red, Dennis Chang, despite held to only one point off the bench in the last game, has emerged to be the Tigers’ leader in points, rebounds and second on assists. The return of Ben Tsang and Edward Fong also added depth to the already deep bench but Edward Fong is expected to miss this game for work.
