Explorers March to Final By 20-Point Win

2008.11.17 13:42

G.T. Explorers had possibly the biggest victory in team history since joined the Association, routed M.I.B. 41-21 in the second game of the O4 series and become the this second straight win made them first team to enter the Final.

M.I.B. got nine players after another 6-man rotation in the previous victory against SAMURAI, but like many times before, they looked ordinary again when more than enough players attend a game together.

After taking a 5-point lead in the first period, G.T. Exploreres extended the cushion to 25-14 at half-time. Adrian Chou scored all his three points to end the first half including one free throw, which is the only basket made at the line on 9 attempts for the team at that time. Since then, the team continue to struggle at the line and was only 3-16.

M.I.B. had an advantage on the glass with a 26-16 edge and 13-5 on the offensive end, but they shot only less than .250 in contrast to almost .5 by the Explorers.

Barton Lai finished with a game-high 13 points, Roy Kwok and Bryant Chan each added six for the team. New face Kim Chou had five points in his debut. Despite missed all four fout shots, big man Van Law finished with four points and a team-high seven boards.

Corn Hui scored eight points and rebounds apiece for M.I.B. but missed nine free throws. Chi Fu Yuen had 3 points and four rebounds, all offensive, before foul out.

Both teams combined to make only 7 free throws on 39 attempts.

M.I.B. will fall to a 3rd place fight if they lost in next game on November 30.
