Hope Survived, SAMURAI Tamed Depleted Tigers

SAMURAI took advantage with the depleted opponent and keep their winning hope survive after they routed Tigers 42-24. With Patrick Tse out of town, Benny Wong battled stomach flu, SOUTHORN Tigers dropped a second straight game in the series and they can only fight for a 3rd place on the last day of this O4 event.

SAMURAI capitalize from turnovers by Tigers and out-scored the opponent in the first two periods. After a 12-4 advantage in the first 10 minutes, SAMURAI led 20-11 at half time.

After Jack Chiu helped extend the lead to 22-11, Edward Fong hit a three followed by another from Cherry Tsui to put Tigers in the game at 22-17. SAMURAI led 24-19 entering the final period.

The Tigers were still without any answers, SAMURAI continued their strong play and finished the last period by 18 points.

Kelvin Ng led all scorers by 10 points with 5 on 7 from the floor, the guard added 3 assists, 2 rebounds and two steals. Patrick Lai and Chi Chiu Au added 9 and 8 points from the bench. Eric Ngai had seven points and six rebounds.

Terence Chan led all Tigers by 8 points and a team-high 6 rebounds. Edward Fong, who was expected to start after missing the previous game, was late to the game but scored five points from the bench. Benny Wong shot only 1-8 but finished with four points.

SAMURAI will play against M.I.B., who lost earlier in the afternoon, again, for the final entrance to the Final on November 30. The loser of this game will fall to a 3rd place game against Tigers on December 14.

Chi Wing Chow made a half-court pass that hit  teammate Will Kam at the back of the head, but the centre grabbed the loose back before it was turned over.
