H.F.C. was out-matched again when they face the young and quick Dream Team, who defeat them in playoffs last season and went on to win the championship. Behind 14 points from Man Chun Chow, 13 points from Seung Lung Chin and 10 from Chun Hong Tsoi, Dream Team beat H.F.C. 43-37 and topped the division.

Probably the quickest player with the ball in this league, Leo Chin made all his first three attempts from the field and Chun Hong Tsoi capped an 8-0 run to start their season. A behind-the-back pass by Tabo Chak to Colin Wong for a fastbreak layup cut the deficit to 8-11, before Leo hit both free throws and took a 13-8 lead entering the second period.

Man Chun Chow and Chun Hong Tsoi each swished a three, almost at the same position, as Dream Team lead for 10 points, the biggest lead in the game. Patrick Ip made two shots at the line and Alfred Lin added two but H.F.C. was still down by eight at half time.

Andy So hit from deep and cut the lead to 18-24, Tabo Chak made two free throws and put H.F.C. to only 20-25. But Man Chun Chow capped a minu 5-1 run and Dream Team still took a 9-point lead into the final period.

After Tabo followed his two foul shots with a three-point play, Dream Team was still leading 33-26 as Chun Hong Tsoi answered a 3-pointer near the baseline, nothing but net.

Patrick scored another two points for 40-34 but H.F.C. never came closer than that margin the rest of the game.

H.F.C. centre Nikko Kwok did not attend the game.

Tabo Chak made all nine free throws without a miss, all in second half, when he had 11 of his 13 points for the evening.

Three players from Dream Team scored in double figures and only four players scored. Kin Hung Ng had 6 points. Their bench combined for only one field goal attempt, but combined for 12 rebounds, more than half of the total.

H.F.C. have not lost two straight games in any season but has now lost two in a row, both to Dream Team, including the last game they met in second round playoff last season. Dream also scored 43 points in that 2-point victory. Before that loss, H.F.C. lost only once when they defeated by SAMURAI in overtime in last season’s debut.

The 10-point lead faced by H.F.C. was the biggest in team history in games when this information was reocrded.
