Mok’s 17 Lift T-REX Past Tigers

Chung Ming Mok scored 15 of his game-high 17 points in the first period and led T-REX for a 36-30 victory over SOUTHORN Tigers and gave his team a second win to begin the season.

T-REX start the game with a 6-0 run before Terence Chan cut it to 4-6 for Tigers but three 3-pointers by Chung Ming Mok extended the lead to 15-7 After Tigers centre Chi Wing Chow made a basket under the rim, T-REX had another 6-0 spurt and reached the 20-point in just the first ten minutes and took a 12-point lead into the second period.

Mok made all his six attempts in the first period and scored 15 of his 17 points of the night.

Michael Wu followed his team-mate’s trend, and made all two of his attempts from the field to begin the second period for a 16-point advantage, the biggest in the game. Only Ben Tsang and Dennis Chan scored for Tigers and was down by 14 at halftime.

After Ben Tsang stole the ball and fed Benny for a fastbreak basket, Benny drive past Wing Kit Tang and hit a running jumper against Chi Yip Wong and cut the deficit to single. But T-REX continued to dominate on boards and they scored on second chances to re-gain a 33-21 cushion mid-way through the 3rd period.

Following an offensive board, Terence Chan swished a two-point jumper and Benny made a long basket from beyond the arc in the next posession and Tigers was down by 26-33 only.

Ted Chan gave T-REX the final two points at the line when it was back to a 10-point lead, but T-REX wasnot scoring again. Tigers had four last points to finish the game and lost 30-36 in the season debut.

Terence had eight points and nine rebounds. Benny scored seven, all in the third period. William Leung started at shooting guard, followed by five points but was 2 on 15 attempts.

Edward Fong, Ray Chan and Wilson Chow were all not with the team. Wilson, the Tigers centre, is out indefinitely for leg injury. New member Ben Cheng scored his first points of the game as a Tiger in the final period, which were the last two points of the game. He added two rebounds and an assist.

Jonathan Poon had 14 rebounds, the Tigers had 18 as a team. Vincen Siu had six boards, three assists, but committed five turnovers and was 0-4 and 0-2 from the field and the line in a scoreless evening. T-REX had 19 turnovers including serveral offensive fouls.

All but two Tigers did not score. Ken Leung and Cindy Lee combined for 0-3 from the field, all three-point attempts.

After an 11-22 from the field in the first half, T-REX was 3-19 in the second and missed all five attempts from deep.
