Photons Top Explorers In Season Debut

Photons handed a 37-31 loss to G.T. Explorers who has many new faces again as another year has come. The new members did give the new-look Explorers some needed help but were still no enough to take a victory from the first runner-up of pervious season.

Photons also added some new faces, and both teams struggled since the beginning. Both teams made only a single field goal each in the first period and Photons could only broke a 2-all tie behind a free throw from Ming Yan Tsui. Photons led 3-2 entering the next ten-minute span.

After shooting 1-5 from the floor, Photons made three of the 11 attempts and added 5 free throws for a 15-6 cushion. Van Law and Kit Cheng added two point apiece and were only scorers for the Explorers.

After the breakl, the Explorers had an 8-2 spurt to take the lead at 16-15, and another 5-2 run gave them a four-point advantage before Photons needed a time-out.

After two-free throws, Harris Wong scored to tie the game and he was fouled. He finished the and-1 for a single-point lead. Kim Chau, however, hit a two to close the third period and G.T. Explorers could take a 23-22 lead into the final period.

Kennth Leung, another new member from Photons, scored on a basket for a 27-26 lead after three lead changes in the beginning of the 4th period. After Cherry Tsui shot for three, Kit Cheng finished a three-point play and pulled within 29-30 for the Explorers but they could never get closer the rest of the game.

Photons went on to score seven more points the rest of the way

After a victory over M.I.B. in 2007 on June 24, G.T. Explorers lost to Photons in the next game which is a playoff game, and did not win any game since then.

Harris had 15 points and made all but one of the eight free throws. Kenneth Leung had 7 from the bench.
