Flag Day One Round Up

2011.07.06 23:22

GRIZZ 21, Matrices 37

Coming off a loss in the 3rd-place game in Southorn Basketball League, GRIZZ continued their struggle despite the return of Fu Ka Wai (GRI #4), who was fouled out with one point. With half the team players came from Wild Six, who win this Flag series last year, Matrices will face old foe in the second round.

Photons 25, Dream Team 21

Nearly comeback from loser-bracket and be winner, Photons started this year’s flag slowly. While keeping a comfortable lead, Photons never put the game far enough to be out of reach but hang on for a win against Dream Team, who has Seung Lung Chin (DRE #3) missing half of his free throws and was without Tsoi Chun Hong (DRE #11).

B.O.B. 49, SAMURAI 34

Eric Leung (SAM #20) hit three baskets from deep, where the longer distance is already implemented to the three-point zone. But the 2nd-period leads for SAMURAI were brief each time and B.O.B. put the game away in the final period and advance to the second round against the SBL champion Trojans.

Trojans 44, SOUTHORN Tigers 42 (OT)

Failed to take a lead in the final seconds, SOUTHORN Tigers lost to the defending champion in over-time after Patrick Tse (SOU #8) missed a potential game-winning three-pointer. Tigers was eliminated in the SBL play-offs also by Trojans, who went on to win the League championship.

Flag Day 2 is on July 10 from 18:00 at Shek Tong Tsui Sports Centre. Schedule here.
